Olympic Development Program (ODP)
Each year, Professional STYSA and Collegeate Coaches and Trainers hold ODP tryouts for elite players in South Texas. Players are chosen to train in a pool of players, and play Friendlies against ODP players from other States within Region III (Southeastern United States).
From this pool, some of the players are selected to advance to the Region III camp in Alabama for more training and games against players from across the United States.
This year Spindletop Select is proud to annonuce that several of our players have been placed into the South Texas pool.

Makes Southeast Texas Soccer History

Beaumont
's very own Spindletop Select Soccer Club made soccer history in Southeast Texas. The SSSC U13 - 99G Twisters, is the first team in SE Texas to ever qualify for the State Classic League as well as the first non-Houston team to earn this qualifying position. The Spindletop team earned the state position by finishing as a top 4 team in the Eastern District Division One Association U13 A bracket. There were 32 Division One teams that competed for the four automatic qualifying positions in the State Classic League.
This is an incredible accomplishment for these athletes because they were competing against teams that have many more players in this age group from which to choose when assembling their top A bracket teams. The Houston clubs are often ten times the size of our local clubs which gives them a huge advantage, but that didn't stop this young team from dominating the Houston area teams again and again. The team consists of players from Beaumont and surrounding areas. The girls train intensely and consistently throughout the week, year round, and work with some of the finest trainers in Southeast Texas. State Classic League qualifying will start in February and end in May 2012. During the State Classic League qualifying period, the Twisters will compete against the top teams from the Houston, San Antonio, and Austin areas in a 12 team pool. The games will be played in Brenham Texas and the Tomball - Houston area. Team members are:

Super 2 State Champions
They were undefeated in the Super2 fall league play (10-0-1) and State Championships (2-0-1).
Eclipse Academy Cup
The Defenders participated in the Eclipse Academy Cup tournament this past weekend (12/3-4) in Missouri City and won
1st place in their bracket (3-1,
1-1, 7-0) and advanced to the semi-finals match, where they lost 2-1 to Challenge White - Houston (in a very close game in the pouring rain
). The
SSSC Defenders came in 3rd overall out of 16 teams in the Trophy division!
We want to thank Mikey O for being at all 4 games with us and also SSSC for permitting him to be there and supporting his involvement. It was a great assistance!

members before January 9th. Positions currently open
for election are Vice President, Secretary and

of Coaches.
Elections will be held at the January 23rd board meeting.
